TMJ Pain, Clicking, Headaches, Neck or Back Problems? We Can Help.

TMJ pain woman jaw joint pain
Jaw pain can be difficult to deal with. We’ve all had that occasional clicking or popping jaw sound that is, to say the least, alarming. We may even have had our jaw lock into an open or closed position for a brief moment. Now, imagine living with the symptoms occurring every hour of every day. Unbearable!

This daily jaw pain and discomfort is what many of my patients endure as a result of malocclusion and TMD.
TMJ or TMD Symptoms include jaw pain, jaw-ear pain, jaw-neck pain, headaches, etc. TMJ pain is often diagnosed as TMD or Temporomandibular Joint Disorder and is historically treated with TMJ surgery and other extreme and invasive techniques. While these methods sometimes work, they are always invasive and costly.

How is Neuromuscular Dentistry Used to Treat TMJ Pain?

At Millbrae Dental Care, we treat TMD and TMJ pain very differently, using neuromuscular dentistry approach to TMJ pain from a more conservative and natural direction.

Using a muscle-relaxing and repositioning method that has been in use for more than twenty years, Dr. Tsai finds a more natural position for your jaw during the biting motion.  She then builds an orthotic for you to wear, thus avoiding TMJ surgery, and minimizing or eliminating jaw pain, ear pain, and neck pain.  If you would like to set up an appointment to evaluate your TMJ symptoms and discuss our treatment for TMJ, please call me: (650)-583-5880.
